SUMMARY:October 2025
DESCRIPTION:A Miracle for Taiwan’s Artists in their Darkest Hour –\nPowered by Innovation, Philadelphia, Seville and Flamenco\nThe Asian Premiere at Taiwan’s National Opera Theater of Spanish opera and ballet featuring flamenco was on the brink of cancellation due to the conductor’s sudden illness. Yet, a global outpouring of support from artists, beginning in Philadelphia, saved the production at the eleventh hour. The result was a sensational success, reaching audiences far beyond Asia to Europe and North America via livestream. This success led Spain to invite Taiwan to co-produce an opera in Madrid and Seville. One Taiwanese dancer particularly captivated Spanish viewers, earning a historic spot as the first non-Spanish national in the Spanish National Ballet and clinching a prestigious flamenco competition in Spain. Click here ( https://www.smugmug.com/gallery/n-R49B52/i-qBsGNJC/A ) for a video.\nThis is a testament to the courage of artists who, even in the darkest days, turned adversity into a magnificent triumph and sparked a profound, lasting cultural exchange. It’s powerful proof that art transcends borders, uniting people from disparate corners of the world. This remarkable achievement was significantly aided by technology, and the unwavering support of Philadelphians was key to its realization.\n \nTime permitting, the presentation will feature a few of the most moving scenes from the recorded opera house performance.\nHOST & PRESENTER: Ren Egawa\nRen Egawa is the founder and CEO of Rexcel Group, which delivers large-scale system solutions to major corporations by partnering with Philadelphia startups. With over 30 years of global tech leadership, Ren is recognized for driving industry transformation and has been featured in Nikkei Electronics journal for his strategies to revitalize Japan’s electronics sector. He is the recipient of the prestigious Matsushita Award for pioneering next-generation video technology and leading its adoption as a global standard.\nBased in Greater Philadelphia since 1993, Ren serves on Governor Shapiro’s Advisory Commission for Asian Pacific American Affairs, and is active in the local community, serving as vice president of the Japan America Society, as an advisory board member of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of Ambassador Circle at The Philadelphia Orchestra.  \nRSVP: Click here\nNote: This presentation will be IN-PERSON only, and NOT on Zoom. It will be recorded for immediate posting on SaCG’s YouTube channel.\n
