hosting a program

Hosting a program is as easy as 1-2-3!

1

prepare your Topic

You will work with the PROGRAMMING CHAIR to choose your topic & presentation date. You will prepare a brief summary of your presentation, a related photo and bio of the presenter.  This information will be used to promote attendance to your presentation via the website and email. RSVPs are handled by the club secretary.

  • Topics can be related to the fields of science or arts, excluding discussions of politics or religion.
  • Presentations should last no more than 45 minutes (ideally 30 minutes to leave time for Q&A).
  • You can serve as both a presenter and host or engage an expert, typically a  non-member to present on a topic.
  • The club meets the 4th Monday of the month in October, November, January, February, March, April and May.

Venue & Refreshments

We are fortunate to have partnered with the Germantown Friends Free Library to offer a no cost, convenient presentation space for the club’s meetings.  The library provides chairs, a screen, projector and microphone.

Some presentations are hosted  “offsite” either due to the host’s preference or because the location is part of the presentation experience.  In these cases, please contact the executive committee to help coordinate your chosen location.

3

host the evening

You should arrive early to set up refreshments and to greet members as they arrive.

Our president will introduce the member hosting the evening’s event utilizing a bio provided by you.  You will then introduce the presenter.

The presenter will speak for approximately 45 minutes which will be followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.

We then move to the social period. This is a chance to meet fellow members and enjoy refreshments provided by the host.
