The President may also appoint other members to the Committee. Said Committee shall have general supervision of the affairs of the Club. The President shall assign the meetings to be held to members in rotation, which assignments shall be made on or before the end of June in each year. Two members may join together as co-hosts.
Presidents are elected for a two-year term. A member may not be re-elected to the position of President until at least two years have elapsed. The offices of Secretary and Membership Chair may be combined at the discretion of the officeholders and the President. Couples may serve together in any of these offices. In the subsequent Rules the singular term President (and other officers) shall be understood to refer to joint holders of these positions where appropriate. The officers shall be elected biannually by the Club at the last meeting of each season, and shall hold offices until their successors are elected. There may be benefits to having the terms of the President and the Secretary overlap, so that the Club does not have both offices filled by people new to running the Club.
Prospective new members should be invited by their sponsors to attend at least one meeting of the Club as a guest. If the guest is then interested in joining, the sponsor sends the President and the Membership Chair a letter of recommendation about the person, including biographical information. The President sends a welcoming letter to the new member, with information about the Club. The Membership Chair sends a letter or e-mail to all the members, notifying them about the new member, including the biographical information and his or her address, telephone number and e-mail address to add to their membership list.
Typically each member is responsible for the presentation every 3-5 years. This includes the tooic, presenter and providing simple refreshments for the social hour that follows the presentation.
The Club meets seven times a year normally on the fourth Monday of the month from October to May, except in December. This means that each couple or individual member presents a program about every five or six years.
