Personal recollections that bring the Harston Estate to Life. Step back in time to explore the history of the Harston estate on Haws Lane and the Harris family who built it in 1909. Designed by the renowned architects Cope & Stewardson and gardens by famed landscape designer Beatrix Farrand, the Tudor-style home once stood on 96 acres. Through rare photos, stores, and memories shares by Harris descendants, Learn about Harston’s vibrant past and its evolution through the years to the present day.
Presenter
Ed Zwicker is a past President and board member of the Springfield Township (Montco) Historical Society. He has co-authored published books on the history of “Springfield Township, Montgomery County” (2002) and “Whitemarsh Hall: The Estate of Edward T. Stotesbury” (2004). Mr. Zwicker has researched and presented to audiences on the topics of “Whitemarsh Hall” (Stotesbury estate), “Emlen House” (Emlen estate), “Laverock Farm” (Newbold estate), “Laverock Hill” (Starr/Lloyd estate), “Chestnut Hill Amusement Park”, and an upcoming one on “Harston” (Harris estate).
